Dry Toes at Smokey Joe’s

After receiving WhatsApp OGIL messages from Dean, Phil 1, Fred and Kath to say they weren’t riding today, I feared I might be on my own! So I was pleased to see Mike waiting at the other place and soon Keith arrived- we were three, just like last week, with Mike instead of Fred.A quick decision was made to go to Smokey Joe’s and we were off.
It was a tad windy…. gusts of 40 to 60 mph apparently but only mist or light drizzle.
I was trying out my new gloves from Evans Cycles. Dean’s subliminal/not so subtle messages may have worked, but it was more likely that they were 44% off! The gloves were great and I had dry hands and toes by our destination. We rode up and over to Stithians to Barncoose, Bissoe Valley, Chacewater, up past the ATV centre and down to Smokey Joe’s.
We locked the bikes and settled in to order full cooked breakfasts and hot drinks.
It rained heavily while we were eating our food but stayed dry and was even sunny on our route back.
A great, if windy ride. 38miles for me
