The forecasts were offering an unusually dry morning with rain around lunchtime so it was surprising that only nine of the 46 OGIL WhatsApp group members turned up at ToP.
Helston Boating Lake was the agreed destination, posted on the WhatsApp group so others could find us, which two others did. A phone call to the café ensured that a table was ready for us when we arrived.
After Wendron I led the group on something of an adventure through lanes rarely ridden- Coverack Bridges, Longstone Downs, Truthall to Sithney Green. Despite some grumbling from the unassisted riders we continued, dodging potholes and deep puddles until we joined the road from Breage and swept down to the café.
Ian, with a big birthday on Thursday, greeted us and generously bought all the Ogils their drinks. The Wednesday Wanderers soon arrived to swell the Falmouth Wheelers takeover and we settled to our various snacks.
Realising we needed to beat the impending rain we returned by the usual route up through the town, Muddy Lane and along a short section of the main road.
A great ride and many thanks to Ian for his generosity.
