Report on our January 28th Zoom Meeting

For the second time, our monthly club meeting was held on Zoom, with 13 members joining in.  Various issues were discussed, and Phil reported that 39 members have already paid their subs for 2021, which is the fastest ever.  Using bank transfer has been very successful – it’s easier for everyone and will be continued from now on.  Our new line up of club officials were announced, with Fred taking over from Kath as Chairman, Amanda becomes the Vice chair, Phil as Treasurer, and myself, Liz, continues as secretary.  At the AGM next month we’ll officially elect everyone.

Kath presented five Golden Spokes, held over from Christmas; to Amanda – the Zoom award for all her great work setting up the Zoom meetings and keeping us all connected, to Phil Conroy – the Mechanic of the year award for fixing all our bikes, to Colin – the ‘Will he, Won’t he’ award for finally deciding to make the move to Cornwall, and for all his many OGIL ride reports, to Robin – the Landlord of the Year award for opening his garden to members needing a beer or a soft drink this summer, and to Steve Lightfoot – Congratulations on his retirement, and thanks for supplying all the Golden Spokes over the years.  This is the last one is to remember us by.

The A.G.M. next month will be held on February 25th at 6pm on Zoom, so please join us if you can.  Another reminder, and the link, will be on the website nearer the time.  You’ll be able to hear the out-going Chair’s report of the year’s rather different activities, and also the Treasurer’s report.  Any other business for the AGM needs to be sent in by February 21st, with details of what you want to talk about, but following the AGM we’ll have an ordinary meeting where anything can be discussed,  including possible gifts to charities. So please make a note of the date, sign up to Zoom if you haven’t already, and come to the meeting!
