Report on the March Meeting – Things to Come

Once again the March 25th meeting was on Zoom, attended by 13 members.  We’re hoping that we’ll all be able to get together in a ‘real’ venue – with a bar! – before too long, but for the next couple of months it has to be virtual.  Fred chaired the meeting and reminded us of the good news – we can ride in groups of up to six from March 29th, so the first OGIL rides are on  Wednesday 31st from Union Corner, and the Sunday ride is on April 4th at 9am from HQ.  The first Pub ride will be on April 14th to the Trelawarren Arms, Budock, leaving from HQ at 6pm.

After May 17th we’re allowed to ride in groups of up to 30, so we’ll be holding our first Pathfinder for over a year, on Sunday May 23rd, led by Ian.  On June 27th the Pathfinder will be from Indian Queens.  Details of both, nearer the time.  Suggestions for future Pathfinders would be welcome.  To celebrate midsummer day, a meal out has been suggested for June 23rd; destination to be announced, and we’re planning to have a BBQ at some point – more news on the website.  Steve Lightfoot will look into possibilities.  Any other ideas for social meetings would be welcome – please email them to the committee.

The discussion turned to insurance, and whether the club should require new members – or anyone who rides with us, to be members of Cycling UK or British Cycling, and be covered for Third Party liability and have access to legal help.  Most of us are already, but insisting on insurance for everyone might not be practical.  No decision was reached at this point.

Phil has 50 paid up members by now, which is very good.  He’s chasing the last few.  Dean has been asked to be the website administrator as he has more time than Chris, and Robin told us that the new order of club shirts should be arriving soon.  The list, along with the ones Paula already has in stock, will be on the website, with prices, under ‘Club Kit’.

The Tour of Britain comes to Falmouth on Sunday September 5th, and in AOB there were some suggestions on how we can be involved – Peter Williams offered his site on Commercial Road, Penryn, for a display and Dean suggested painting the FWs logo on the road.  Anyone can join the zoom town meeting concerning the Tour’s arrival in Falmouth – email emma@falmouth.co.uk and ask to be included on the list to be sent the link.  The next  T of B meeting is on April 8th at 11am.

Our next meeting will be on April 29th at  the later time of 8pm, as the evenings will be much lighter by then, and the link will be on the website nearer the time.  With all the topics covered, our March meeting closed at 6.55pm.

  1. I have been added to the list of Administrators for the website, which includes Margaret and Amanda. I have no wish or ability to replace Chris.
