Chocolates and Allsorts, and not even my Birthday

An assorted mix of wheelers assembled at HQ on a warm but overcast day; we sort of sorted ourselves out into three or maybe four groups. Five of us headed for the Lizard, Trevor and his group were heading for the Chocolate factory at Mullion and Robin’s group were heading in the Lizard direction possibly the apple cafe. We had a leisurely ride to Bulla cross then it got silly as it always does across Goonhilly downs. We skirted Cadgewith and so to Lizard the Regent cafe or was it the Regal, Odean or Granada. The service was excellant and all were replenished. As we left a coach arrived and loaded up what appeared to be a Caribbean band – must been something on Saturday evening. The traffic was endless as we headed for Mullion and took the back road towards Cury. At Cury cross we joined the Cury bull run, everyone in the village seemed to be herding the cattle down the road who it appeared had not emptied their bowels for some time ( the herd or the herders? Ed) as the road soon became awash with dung. “I wish I still had my mudguards on” was a common thought. Back down to Gweek, up four mile hill turning second right where we bid farewell to Teressa. On the narrow part after Silver Spring farm we met a grey van which immediately reversed all the way back up to the junction, we remarked in his excellent reversing ability. As we came level with him he then proceeded to hurl abuse at us telling us we shouldnt be here blocking up his roads and he never has any problem till we all come down here etc etc we tried to explan that we were locals but the toys were way out of the pram and just carried on with his abuse and colourfull use of the english language. He was having a bad day that was sure and a certain candidate for an early heart attack. Damien and Dean the younger went straight down to Brill then Constantine and NZ Dave and I had the delight of Trevadrever hill.
A modest 44 miles on a nice day with good company
