Report on the Club Meeting, May 26th 2022

There was a good turn out for the meeting and it was great to see Richard back after an absence of over two years.  Another Richard, a visitor who had contacted us, brought along his early-nineties Codex bike which he wants to sell.  It aroused a lot of interest amongst our members.

Apologies were received from Fred, Denise, Steve H, Phil C, Paul and Dave G

Amanda chaired the meeting.

Past Events:

The Mallorca trip went very well, with six Wheelers cycling at least 200 miles over six days.

The Bude trip was also a great success.  We’re hoping to hear more about it soon.

The club sent chocolates and a card to Caroline, who came off her bike and broke her arm.

Future Events:

June 11th:  Our stand for Bike Week will be on the Moor in Falmouth from 9am – 3pm.  There’ll be lots going on, with bike workshops and a chance to talk to new cyclists who might want to join us.  Dean has organised everything, so come along and support the club – wearing your FW’s shirt!

June 12th:  The Pathfinder led by Paul from St. Austell.  Meet at the Priory Road carpark at 10am.

June 19th:  The Mines and Minerals on road and off road Audax organised by Simon.  No entries on the day, please have them in by Thursday 19th.  Use the Audax website where you can also order your food choices, under ‘store’.

June 21st:  Meet at the Blue Anchor in Helston at 6.30 – 7pm to have a drink and remember Raymond.

July 3rd: The ‘Many rivers to cross’  Audax from Penzance.  200 and 300k distances.

July 10th:  Audax organised by Martyn.  Peter’s Point, 50k, Red River blue Sea, 100k, and Lizard and Camel 200k.  All from Perranwell village hall, with an early start for the long route.  A light breakfast will be available, and more food at the end.

August 7th:  Robin will be cycling the London-Edinburgh – London Audax again, hoping to beat his previous time. The route is longer, at 375k.

Richard has offered to set a quiz for one of our winter meetings – maybe November.  He also made a request that our club kit should include cloth caps to go under a helmet.  He is planning to do an 80 mile charity ride to celebrate his 80th birthday – we’ll all support him!

With no more business, the meeting closed at 8.25pm.
