Ogil ride on Wednesday 28th September

“Can you write a report on today’s ride, Phil? To celebrate your first completed ride for three months?” Fred asked……here’s the answer:
I looked at three weather apps to see what to wear and what the ride would be like. Thankfully, BBC and Met Office got it right- dull with a slim chance of light rain. XC Weather thankfully didn’t!
Adrian caught me as I rode through Treverva before joining Fred, Amanda and Jan waiting at The Other Place. Soon Phil C, Steve Lightfoot and Ian arrive and a quick decision of destination Portreath was agreed.
I was clearly “well off the pace” and Steve kindly cycled with me so  I didn’t hold everyone back. We chose a route that took us through Penmarth, Bolenowe and Tuckingmill so we could skirt round Tehidy and descend into Portreath. The others heade for Coombe so they could enjoy the fast leg across North Cliffs.
We chose the large raised corner table and the food of choice was scrambled eggs on toast and coffee. Fred regaled us with adventures from the recent Picos cycling tour and other lively discussions ensued.

Soon it was time to head home and this time we stayed together, taking the usual return leg over Sparnon Gate and up through Redruth. Jan left us at the top of Lanner hill and we splintered into smaller groups as we headed home to beat the rain which arrived soon after I had reached home.
An enjoyable ride, 64 km for me. Now I have to get fit again!
