Ride Report: Portreath 04/12/22

Three word management summary:
A bit cold

Participants:
Ian
Ben
Dean
Amanda
Fred
Phil
Danny
Don
Trevor

Route:
Usual start round the south side of Stithians then the right, left at Nine Maidens Down followed by an unexpected (for the author at least) right at Bolenowe to take us down an interesting single track lane with an ATA memorial at the end. Then through Brea and Tehidy before the lovely descent into Portreath.

Points of interest:
1. We were joined by a colourful newbie by the name of Henry who pealed off at about one thirds distance to Porthreath – either because he thought the pace was too fast or too slow. I wonder if he will join us again to provide the answer!
2. One ebike rider, Don, was brave enough to take on the ride against 8 riding without electrical assistance!
3. It was so cold Ian was uncharacteristically quiet at The Atlantic Cafe, preferring instead to spend time acquainting himself with the log burner. Relief all round when he demonstrated he was back to his old self by the time we reached the Seven Stars on the return journey!

Key takeaway:
Get your thermals out!

Trevor.
