Report on the Club Meeting, January 26th 2023

The meeting was well attended, but apologies were received from Sheila, Paul, KK, Sarah, Richard, Ann, and Barbara.

Fred chaired the meeting and reminded us of all the past events over Christmas, and that Dean had been on TV – Spotlight, discussing the new ’20 is Plenty’ speed limit.  Fred also asked for nominations for the committee for the AGM next month.

Future Events:

Simon’s Rides Group met recently and have come up with dates and more information.  Pathfinders, all starting at 10 am, will be on March 26th, led by Martyn, April 23rd, led by Jan, May 14th (leader needed)  June 11th, led by Richard, July 2nd (leader needed). Nothing in August.  September 3rd led by Ian, and October 1st led by Phil Conroy.  Routes and meeting places will be on the website nearer the time.  Pathfinder rides will be divided into smaller groups based on speed so no one gets left behind.

March 29th – the first Wednesday evening social ride of the season, meeting at HQ at 6pm and going to the Red Lion in Mawnan Smith.  On Weds. 5th Richard will organise chips at the Stag Hunt in Ponsanooth.

April 2nd – The club Audax from the Falmouth Cricket Club, organised once again by Phil Conroy.  Online entries are already coming in, and entries on the day may be possible – Phil has yet to decide.  The same two distances and routes as last year. Volunteers would be welcome, as marshals or helping with the tea, and a list for donations of cakes etc will be circulated at the AGM next month, which is on February 23rd.

May 21st – Martyn’s 50, 100, and 200k Audax

June 18th – The Mines and Minerals Audax

Phil Samuel gave an update on the club finances – so far 31 members have paid their subs, with about 25 still outstanding.  The accounts will be available for members to see at the AGM.

There are still places available on the Mallorca trip, April 15th – 22nd.  Contact Robin or Amanda if you’re interested.

A.O.B.

Suggestions are needed for talks and presentations at our meetings.  Richard will host a quiz.  Kath has a purple cycling jacket she would like to give away, and Amanda has some books.   There was no other business so the meeting closed at 8.20pm and was followed by a slide show by Simon, of their Pico’s tour last October, which we all enjoyed.
