CORONAVIRUS UPDATE/MARCH MEETING CANCELLED.

We are getting updates and changes regarding the Coronovirus daily. I can only stress that we make our own decisions regarding whether we ride as a group or not.  Health officials are advising ‘no small or large social gatherings’ and this seems to apply to being on a bike.  Cycling Uk are advising the cancellation of all Group Activities. Coffee shops may well be closing which will make the rides a little different too. Please can we all keep in […] Read More

Here comes the sun

Five of us gathered at Union Corner – PhilC, Paul, Cath, me and, making a guest appearance after resting after his Festive 500 exploits, Trevor.  The sun was making an effort to appear, teasing us with a “now you see me now you don’t” game with some co-operative clouds.    Still, we were encouraged, and set off up to the other place.  For some reason, Paul decided to turn on the after-burners and we arrived in what felt like record […] Read More

Water does no more than get you soaking…

OGIL ride 04.03.20 …But people act as if they’re going to drown Forget about the summer when the sun burns their skin Forget that man lives not by bread alone These words from a song by Bridget St John went through my mind us we all sat in puddles of our own making in Miss Molly’s; we were certainly not having bread alone either – supplements included sausages, bacon, eggs and various preserves, washed down by a hot beverage of […] Read More

Pathfinder – CANCELLED

Due to the shocking conditions of the roads, flooded roads and a Closed Road along with further rain forecast, I have taken the decision to Cancel the Pathfinder from Stithians Watersports that was to take place this Sunday 8th March. A new date will be announced at the next meeting.

Gender Fluidity

Although Martyn confessed to have not ridden for a “few weeks” his presence, in combination with Paul, Phil1 and Adrian, still resulted in a chase across to the other place. It took a “Lady” to be a “Gentleman”, in the form of Kath, to wait for me to catch up at the fruit wholesaler turn. Arriving at Halvasso Parkway after the others I therefore expected a decision as to today’s destination to be done. With a cold and strong South […] Read More

A WEEKEND IN DEVON

The proposed ride to “Iddesleigh” was always going to be eventful and so it was. Robin and Julian had done the ride last year and had been joined by Don and Sue Morris; so this year they were to be joined by Steve Pond and yours truly riding up, then to be joined for a ride on Sunday by Kath and Clive. I decided that it would probably be to much for me to ride all the way so arranged […] Read More

OGIL ‘s find a spare HUB.

Today’s destination was decided before anyone left home by Kath. It was to be the Hub at Portreath as it was under new management and therefore the experience should be much better than before. I joined Kath and Dean at the missing phone box and then Keith, Fred, Simon and Phil 3 at the other place. As there was no need for a discussion over our destination we could leave promptly but we didn’t as Phil had a problem with […] Read More
