Sunday 28th September Rides in Pictures

Enjoying the long overdue Indian summer! The short ride was a lovely little meander to Mylor Harbour Cafe and on the way back a short detour down into Flushing to gaze across the water! The medium ride went via Porkellies, Praze and Carnhall Green to Sunset Surf, Gwithian Towans then back via North Cliffs, Illogan, St Euny, Four Lanes and Stithians The long ride did a “Tour of the Lizard” on roads less travelled to a “mystery” cafe All capped […] Read More

Sunday long ride 21st Sept

It can be quite a challenge planning a cycle route in Cornwall on a day when big black clouds are moving swiftly across the county. I no longer find it fun riding through torrential rain – when water finds its way into shoes despite covers, the bike’s bearings despite grease and worst of all my camera despite my best efforts to keep it dry. So I was keen to avoid the black clouds especially given the glorious sunny start to […] Read More

Add a route to the Café Routes Database

The Three Areas involved There are three areas involved with producing the Café Routes page: 1 – the Media Library – contains all the GPX files AND the routes spreadsheet which is called ‘Wheelers-Routes.xlsx’ 2 – the Downloads area –  this allows the GPX files to be referred to and downloaded from the website 3 – a wpDataTables table called ‘Café Routes’ – this is the table that displays the data on the routes page. It takes it’s data from […] Read More

Long ride – Sunday 25th Aug

On a fine hot sunny Sunday morning it was one lonely rider that left HQ for the long ride to Wheal Martyn Cafe near St Austell. Luckily just down the road Robin was joined by Phil Bartlet. Mean while I was on my way to the Norway Inn, arriving early I resisted the full English and ordered a coffee and shortly after was joined by Steven Hills. Robin and Phil quickly joined us and we set off to meet Julian […] Read More

Club meeting and talk – August 28th. 1930hrs

Lessons from a second ultra   The talk will be followed by the usual Club Meeting Charlie Furness says – “Two years after my first ultra, I decided I would give it another shot. This time closer to home, aiming to cross France in under five days. It turns out that headwinds and saddle sores are like death and taxes, they’re inescapable.” Open to all. The talk is prior to our club meeting but you’re welcome to stay and hear […] Read More

Time trial recce

You may feel it’s too windy to go cycling and no one should persuade you otherwise. And when it’s a decision made by an event organiser the pressure to get that call right increases and will likely veer towards caution – however much that upsets the participants! The recent LEL being one such example. But it was a different scene at Victoria early last Sunday morning. Kernow Cycling Racing had organised a “recce” 10 mile time trial for us to […] Read More

Sunday ride 10th August

One riders’ view of a sunny day trip Lamorna. Could there be anything better than a sunny summer Sunday Wheelers GroupRide to Lamorna? Dale,Robin and Steve thought not as they enjoyed crab on cheesy chips, fresh sardine salad and a cheese and spicy three bean toastie  at a table overlooking overlooking the cove. It was tempting to join the bathers floating in the clear, cool water on the beach far below, another time maybe? Meeting at H.Q. members of the […] Read More
