Don’t forget that the clocks go back this weekend.
Richard is unable to lead a Pathfinder on October 20th, so unless anyone else can fill the slot there will not be a Pathfinder this month. Barbara is co-ordinating the decorations for our Christmas tree at the Princess Pavilion. Please make bike or pantomime-related items (the pantomime is Treasure Island, so basically a Pirate theme) and bring them to the meeting on October 31st.
Rule number one: you don’t talk about Talk Club. Today’s meeting of Talk Club oddly coincided with the OGIL ride. Although eight of us gathered at the other place, nobody mentioned the true reason for being there, obviously mindful of rule number one. Dean was certainly present on Whatsapp this morning, but not at Union Corner at ten to nine, so despite our concern we left to see who might be at the other place. To nobody’s surprise it was much the usual crowd, chatting away as normal about lots of interesting subjects other than a possible destination. I popped up at 5.45 this morning to Pendennis Castle to see around 40 riders getting ready to set off on their 500km ride to London. I spoke to one chap who had cycled from Truro this morning, was aiming to arrive in London well before the cut off time of 3.30pm tomorrow and was then going to ride another 200 km to Coventry. The annual hillclimb on Weir Hill was enjoyed by all who took part; not least because of Hilary’s excellent burgers, cake and nibbles. Thanks again to Hilary and Paul for hosting the event at their house by the summit finish. We all appreciate it. Numbers were down a bit on last year with no “sparkies” riding which was a pity.
