Sunday 10th March A windy ride to Portreath

It was wild and windy but I expected to see more than the other five who turned up at HQ on Sunday morning. We had no rain and the wind was never really a problem. It was even sunny as you can see from the photo.

Robin led us down to Commercial road and soon we split with Ian (single speed) and Teresa carrying on while Philby, Dave (just returned from a month in NZ) and I followed Robin up Truro Hill. We regrouped by the Norway where my milkman tooted as he passed on the road to Bissoe.

It was an uneventful ride to Twelveheads, Blackwater, left to Smokey Joe’s, on .to Mawla, down Chapel Hill and in to Portreath.

The Atlantic Cafe was buzzing, very noisy and crowded. Coffees and cake, bacon rolls and cooked breakfast came without the recent delays experienced there and we were off again. While Robin, Ian and Phil returned up the hill to stop for a beer or three, Dave, Teresa and I took the easier route through Redruth and Stithians.

Another enjoyable ride in pleasant if a little windy conditions.

43 miles for me

Phil3….feel free and ride
