24 hour French Trip

The six of us arrived at Plymouth in wet and miserable evening, it was the same when we came back on Sunday morning. The crossing was a bit rock and roll but we arrived in Roscoff to a grey but dry morning.
We took the normal route through St Pol and on to Penze, where the tide was in, normally we just see the mud, like Truro. On into Morlaix where we had our only rain of the day as we dropped down into the town, it stopped as soon as we got off the bikes and headed in to the cake shop. The market was very quiet and not many cars either.
From Morlaix we headed down the other side of the river towards Terenez, where we had planned to have lunch. At Dourduff en Mer we saw a cycle route sign and Trevor said let’s try that it’ll take us off the road, there was one section off road but rideable on road bikes, so another route to use in future.
At Terenez at first we thought the restaurant was closed but a closer look showed it was open, we had a warm welcome helped by a woodburner in the corner. After various crepes we headed back to Morlaix, where it was decided to not stop but to head back to St Pol for our afternoon stop.
By the time we got to St Pol I was done in, it’s the longest ride I’ve done in a long time, after a drink in the bar and a quick stop at Super U we headed down to the ferry port and early check in, it was then a bit cold waiting to board.
Once on board it was a shower and then food in the restaurant before heading to the bar for the usual Wheelers banter until we were all that tired we had to head for our beds. Another rock and roll night.
