No sitting on the fence please!

10 of us left HQ on what was going to be a ride in excellent weather to Melinsey Mill on the Roseland. Starting on our usual route it wasn’t long before we had to dismount and walk past the works on Truro Hill, some thought it was a good to walk up the hill. On across to The Norway where we lost Theresa who decided on a less hilly route to Portreath.
Our superb leader was slightly off the pace as we arrived at the KHF as it was just leaving. When we eventually embarked Mike Wall was taken by surprise as Mrs. Wall was following on behind in the team car.
The usual hills took us to the main road to St Mawes. We immediately turned left and then right and rejoined it further along avoiding any traffic. Next right took us to Veryan and down, very much down, to Melinsey Mill. We were too early for cooked lunch even though it was 11.45, I was reminded by Fred that time is slightly different over there. There was some confusion by the staff as to why we didn’t know what sandwiches were available, even though there was a list in front of the nice lady taking orders at the hatch. Still we got through it and various sorts of cake and sandwiches were ordered. All very good and tasty.
Time came for the team photo and three decided the fence surrounding the pond would be a good place to sit, as the third person sat down the fence decided to give up! We owned up to the vandalism and a nice man repaired it with his screwdriver.
The only way out from Melinsey is up so up the 20% we go back onto the St Mawes road.
At the junction we split up with T Dave, K Dave and Mike deciding it was time to head back to the KHF and home. The rest of headed on to Ruan Lanihorne, past Tregothnan estate on quiet roads and back to civilisation at Tresillian and on to Truro.
In Playing Place Fred and Phil 3 decided they were going to head back via Frogpool and Stithians avoiding the Falmouth Road. Sarah, Colin and I decided to join them as mileage so far was low.
Just before Burncoose Nursery Phil 3 wasn’t feeling too good and rang for a lift home.( Phil is ok now).
The rest of us headed home the usual way leaving Fred at bottom of Halvasso.
Team members, T Dave, K Dave, Fred, Phil3, Sarah, Mike W and Colin.

53 miles in brilliant sunshine, and a great route.
Phil 1
