Report on the AGM etc., February 24th 2022

Twenty four members attended the club AGM.  Apologies were received from Phil Conroy, Charlie and Jill Prior, Steve Hudson, and KK.  Approval of the minutes of last year’s AGM were proposed by Dean and seconded by Martyn.

Fred gave the Chairman’s report, commenting on a very successful and busy year; with restrictions lifting, we were able to enjoy four Pathfinders, the Coast and Clay sportive, our club Audax, the Welsh trip for four members, and a lovely Christmas tree at the Princess Pavilion.  Meetings have been made more interesting with a talk or a film each month.  We need more speakers, and also Pathfinder leaders. Fred thanked his hard-working committee, and all the members for supporting the club.

Phil gave the Treasurer’s report.  It was an improving year, with 60 paid up members in 2021.  The bank-transfer system of payment is very convenient.  The club Audax in September made £519 after expenses, and the club was able to give donations of £350 each to two charities.  As of the date of the AGM, there were 51 paid subscriptions for 2022.  Approval of the accounts was unanimous. Proposed by Paula and seconded by Dave Gibson.

There were no challenges to the existing committee and no AOB, so the AGM closed at 8.10pm.

A short ordinary meeting followed.

Forthcoming events: Sunday Feb. 27th, the Pathfinder from Cardinham woods.

Sunday March 27th, a Pathfinder led by Damien, route to be announced.

March 31st:  Club meeting, followed by the award-winning film ‘The Soul of the Cyclist’.

Sunday April 10th, the club Audax from Falmouth Cricket Club.

Looking further ahead, there’s the Celtic Coastal 100k on May 15th, Martyn’s Audax on July 10th, the Coast and Clay sportive on July 17th.

After the meeting closed, Mike from COGs gave us a very useful talk on ‘the wear and tear on your bike’, passing round brake blocks, wheel rims, etc to illustrate how worn parts and neglect can lead to nasty accidents or at least, expensive repairs.  A reminder to clean your bike of grit and dirt, and to check for wear.  He was given a well-deserved round of applause.

During the evening Adrian organised the raffle held over from Christmas, for a wrapped prize,  which raised £87 for the club’s charity fund.
