Report on the club meeting, November 24th 2022

The meeting was very well attended, but apologies were received from Phil S, Sheila, Phil C  and Jan.

Fred chaired the meeting and commented that the Sunday and Wednesday rides have been going well, but more ride reports would be welcome.  Charlie Furnass, the youngest member of FWs, completed the Dartmoor Devil recently, and Robin has had his London-Edinburgh-London Audax time endorsed.

AOB

Simon is chairing the Rides Group to organise Pathfinder leaders etc.

We need suggestions for speakers, or other ideas for meetings.

The new FWs caps have been well received – there are 9 left, at £15 each.

The four charities nominated to receive a donation from the club – Georgia’s Voice, Man Down, Hidden Help and the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, were voted on, and the first two, both of which support mental health, were the chosen charities this year.  We hope that representatives of both will be able to receive their cheques at the Christmas party.

Simon is selling set of brand new mudguards for a 28″ wheel – yours for a £5 donation.

There was no other business so the meeting closed at 8pm.  Richard’s 80th birthday was celebrated (again!) with a cake, which we ate while enjoying films organised by Amanda.  First was footage of Chris Froome’s success in the Tour de France several years ago, then a fun film of dogs enjoying racing through the woods followed by a cyclist, and finally footage from the 1950s (?) of cyclists racing in France, with crowds swarming all over the road, and no helmets…..quite a contrast to nowadays!
