The article on the Cycling UK website has now been updated with my post attempt comments.
See you Sunday.
Well done Robin and as near as dammit - still a bl***y good effort. Even so - congratulations! R753
I would like to thank you all the most amazing support you gave me yesterday. To the "operations team" that worked tirelessly sorting out all the logisitics and timing schedules and who generously gave their time up to travel to Newport on two occasions to test things out. To the volunteers who took on the work in and around the track that was so important to the smooth running of the event. To all those wheelers, track cyclists, family and friends who gathered in the spectator area and gave such volume to the encouragement on each and every lap - that was at times the only thing I had to cling on to! To all those who were unable to make it but sent messages of encouragement. Such a big THANKYOU to you all. It felt very much a team effort.
I fell short of the distance of 44.271 kms by just over 2k. It's a lot in the scheme of things - but less than three minutes on the track!
However, we did break the record for the number of supporters at a VTTA record attempt. The velodrome staff were impressed.
Back to normal cycling now. And drinking beer. Robin

The balance of ยฃ15 is now due for the Christmas meal please. I'll be at the Club Meeting or see me on Sundays. Thanks
I'm still waiting for the menu choices for Vanessa and Anne.
Thanks all for an excellent Film Night - particular thanks to Chris for running the film and to Kath and Clive for the grub. What a pity that only a very few Wheelers were there! As members make the effort to organise these efforts - please support them. Remember, it is your club and needs your support! R753
Robin will be talking about the run up to his Hour record attempt on the Source Sports Show, on Source FM, this Saturday morning, with plenty of mentions of Falmouth Wheelers and what a great club to be in. Due to start at 11am, although I understand that it may be at 10.50. Source FM programmes can also be downloaded from the net.
Get your thinking Caps on as we need your nominations for the Achievement Award and the Wow awards please.
The deadline for nominations is the film night, this Thursday 15th November.
Make contact with either myself, Liz, Sonjia or Fred either before film night or on the night.
We present these awards at our Christmas meeting in December.
Thank you to Phil and Dave for fixing my puncture and to Fred and gang for waiting for us.
Teresa
Please don't forget the we have a Film Night next Thursday on November 15th.
We aim to start the Film at 7.30 and there will be a selection of Popcorn and Crisps for you to enjoy while the film is on.
No Choc Ices I'm afraid.
Does anyone have a turbo trainer I could borrow where it's possible to alter the resistance? I need one for a few days to help sort my position on the track bike.
Minutes of October now in the members area of the Forum.
I'm sure most have heard about Paula's mishap on her bike on Friday. She took a tumble in Penzance and has a lot of cuts and grazes and a poorly hand, but her spirits are high although she is fed up that she won't be back on her bike or kayaking for a few weeks. If you are passing her house at any time I'm sure she would be very pleased to see you for a bit of a chat and a catch up.
Brilliant pathfinder Dave. Thank you for the time and effort you obviously put in organising the route and selecting the cafe/lunch stop. Looking forward to your next pathfinder!
Thanks Dave for a lovely pathfinder today. Lovely route.
Donโt think Iโll be going until you get this sorted Richard.
Luxulyan Pathfinder - sometimes spelled as Luxullian. I will check this out? R753
Does anyone have a spare spot in their car for tomorrow that I can squeeze into please ๐
Anyone not wanting to ride all the way to Sundays Pathfinder at Luxluyan there will be a shorter alternative leaving from Lanivet at 0900hrs.
Don't forget the clocks go back and sunset on Sunday will be at 1641hrs
Thanks Simon and Fred for an excellent quiz - interesting and challenging! What a pity that more members did not take part!
