Hi Don I might have your cycling shades you left at the Stag! Call me on 07882904980 or I'll just keep them!
Replying to Robin - I don't think it can have been any of us, because I turned up to HQ at 10am on Sunday, but no one was there - put off by the weather? On my way home a very heavy shower came through. I hope they can trace the car driver, and there would have been plenty of witnesses. Was the cyclist hurt?
I've just received a call from a young chap who witnessed an incident on Sunday where one, of a large group of cyclists, was knocked off their bike by a car, and the offending driver drove away without stopping. This took place at the junction near the Norway at around 11:30. He drove after the vehicle and managed to get the registration - he then went on to contact the police. However, because he took chase he wasn't able to establish which club the cyclist belonged to.
Was it one of our rides? The 9 o'clock ride headed West.

It should be a fun evening so do come if you can, and please bring some food - anything you like! - and a wrapped prize for KK's raffle. Money raised will go to Sailability once again.

Sad news. Paul Sherwen died on Sunday in his sleep aged only 62. Well respected pro rider in the 70s and 80s on the international scene and well known broadcasting partner of Phill Liggett on ITV's coverage of the Tour de France. One of the small band of Brits who broke into the European scene and rode 7 Tours and commentated on 33 others.
Don't forget that on Monday 3rd December a representative from Watt Bikes will be at The Hub (Falmouth School) at 7.00 p.m. to demonstrate the new Watt bikes and show us all of their functions. All welcome, you don't have to be a member of The Hub. I understand there will be a short 'class' too.
Minutes of the November meeting now in the members area of the Forum.

The article on the Cycling UK website has now been updated with my post attempt comments.
See you Sunday.
Well done Robin and as near as dammit - still a bl***y good effort. Even so - congratulations! R753
I would like to thank you all the most amazing support you gave me yesterday. To the "operations team" that worked tirelessly sorting out all the logisitics and timing schedules and who generously gave their time up to travel to Newport on two occasions to test things out. To the volunteers who took on the work in and around the track that was so important to the smooth running of the event. To all those wheelers, track cyclists, family and friends who gathered in the spectator area and gave such volume to the encouragement on each and every lap - that was at times the only thing I had to cling on to! To all those who were unable to make it but sent messages of encouragement. Such a big THANKYOU to you all. It felt very much a team effort.
I fell short of the distance of 44.271 kms by just over 2k. It's a lot in the scheme of things - but less than three minutes on the track!
However, we did break the record for the number of supporters at a VTTA record attempt. The velodrome staff were impressed.
Back to normal cycling now. And drinking beer. Robin
