Met Matt at 5 o'clock last night and had a brisk ride to St Keverne and the Three Tuns. Really nice pub with good beer. Only a pint and a half and a brisk ride home but still not back until 8:30. Possibly a bit too far for a Wednesday ride.
Not sure if I'll be out tonight but The Red Lion Mawnan Smith is a closer alternative...............................
Great news about your friends kittens Robin, hope they are all well !!
I would like to go out on Wednesday evening, weather permitting, to enjoy what I can imagine will be some fairly quiet roads.
My plan in the past has been to drive part of the way so that it's not so far to get back but had the venue definitely changed? I'll plan to start from HQ see who is there and head off.
Pub ride to St Keverne. For any dinosaurs out there who don't use Facebook - personally I can't live without it - I got a notification at three o'clock this morning from an old school friend - well not really that much of a friend - but they found me on facebook and let me know that their cat had just had kittens. Brilliant! Best bit of news I've had in the middle of the night for ages. Anyhow, if you don't do facebook, you might not have seen that it has been "suggested" that the pub ride has been postponed because of the footy. Suits me as I have an early start on Thursday. I'm going to go to The Three Tuns tomorrow night instead - after a ride with Matt Dunisbar who is back in Falmouth for a while.
Of course, you could go to the Three Tuns on Wednesday - I'm sure they'll have a telly.
Looking sunny on Sunday. St Mawes anyone?
The Lizard supper is on Friday July 27, at Polpeor cafe on the Lizard point. You must be there by 6.30pm as the cafe closes early. Contact Steve Lightfoot to book. stephen020@btinternet.com
And for those who are working and can't get to HQ for 5.30pm there will also be at least one person (me) not racing to KHF and also going at a more leisurely pace.
Thanks for the support for the Pathfinder to Porth on Sunday. Yes, I know there were a couple of 'directional' issues but we got there and back OK in the end. I did feel that, with the heat, I had been barbequed en-route! R75
Meeting 6pm as usual HQ for Wednesday evening pub ride to Roseland Inn Philleigh. However, earlier meeting at 5:30 for a slower, more leisurely ride - aiming for 6:20 or 6:40 ferry.
It was more than ok Richard - it was the best turnout for a pub ride in a long time - 14 wheelers!
Well - it all worked out OK in the end!
What about meeting at Silverwell at 6.55. You can park at the Chiverton Arms where we could have a pint before proceeding onto Mithian for a swift couple. Should give us a ride of nearly 5 miles there and back to the Chiverton Arms where we could have another 2 or 3 pints and from there drive responsibly home!
Planning on being at HQ at 6 as it's easy for me. Will be nice to meet along the way if that happens. Weather is looking good later so I'm looking forward to a dusky ride home.
OK - Devoran car park at 6 and Chacewater at 6.30 tomorrow eve: fine by me unless anyone wants to confuse things further?
Regarding next Sunday's Pathfinder - forecast looks OK so far and I am keeping an eye on the seaweed hanging outside! !0am start at Chacewater car park. Any further developments then I will let you know; so watch this space!
More like 6:30 at Chacewater Richard. Sorry about the confusion but I think the ride from Devoran to Mithian is easily manageable.
Let's discuss your idea at the next meeting? Pubs further afield. Like the Blue Anchor.............................
Just seen the weather forecast for tomorrow and itโs very likely going to be wet - so I suggest we leave St Mawes until a sunnier Sunday?
Short ride to Atlantic Cafe Portreath .......or Weatherspoons Perranporth if not toooo wet?
Sorry, ferry to Falmouth!!
Re: Mithian ride - I thought we had already agreed to start from Chacewater? If there is a 6pm start from Devoran Trail car park - then I guess you will pass thru' Chacewater at roughly 6.45. It is just that Chacewater is nearer to Mithian than Devoran unless you go via 'Dangerous X' etc. We need to avoid any confusion before next Weds!
I was planning on riding to St. Mawes on Sunday. Weather permitting of course.
Just seen Sonjia and she says she's coming to St Mawes on Sunday - any more takers? Ferry back to St Mawes if you don't fancy going the whole distance.
May miss this Sunday's ride - reverting to an 'anorak' and riding over to Par/St Blazey to see Clan Line.
