OGIL ride report 13th October 2021 By the time we got to The Other Place, we were a dozen strong. This was despite some notable absences. No sign of Kath, nor of the two Steves (new Steve and Steve Heavyhand), and has anyone seen John since the Wales trip (maybe he’s still there??). Still, not a bad contingent for a Wednesday – presumably everyone had been tempted out by the weather – sunny and hardly a breath of wind. It […] Read More
The Long Ride recently has not been functioning at it’s best due to our reliance on Robin organizing the ride. Now he’s recovered from his surgery, he and the ride is back up and running. He seems to be riding as strong as ever and as I’m writing this report he is having a session in the velodrome at Newport! Does this mean another attack on the hour record next year? We shall see! Saturday afternoon and the long ride […] Read More
The meeting was attended by 16 members and apologies were received from Fred, Amanda, Dean E, Don G and Don M, Mike C, Dave G, and Adrian H. Phil Samuel chaired the meeting. Past Events: The Tour of Britain came through Falmouth on September 5th. There was a good turn out of 23 of our members, who rode round the Point in wearing club kit. I only started cycling about 18 months ago and although I enjoyed the Coast and Clay Sportive earlier in the year, I did not understand what an Audax was all about. I enquired during the Ogil ride on Wednesday but did not get a satisfactory answer. Anyway, having just taken part in the Falmouth 100 Audax I now get it. It’s a great fun sociable event where it gives an opportunity for members of other clubs or individuals to join […] Read More

On Sunday all roads lead to Long Rock Industrial Estate where the Wheelers congregated for Ian’s fabled Pathfinder around the far the West of Cornwall. This has been cancelled due to some extremely inclement weather at least twice already this year so it was nice to be blessed with some very nice early autumn sun. Some groups arrived in cars, others cycled from Falmouth with yet another group managing to cycle in from Perranuthnoe. Perhaps not so strangely, there was […] Read More
OGIL ride report 15th September 2021 As we congregated at Union Corner, we were surprised by the arrival of a new face, who introduced himself as Bruce. He claimed to be a friend of Councillor Dean, but he also admitted that his name was an alias, so we will have to wait for Dean to reappear to confirm this. Dean wasn’t the only absentee – none of the Welsh ride contingent turned up. I suppose they were either recovering or […] Read More

Seven of us met at Union Corner on Wednesday and had the usual ‘where are we going?’ discussion. Don suggested Hell’s Mouth so off we went – Barbara, Denise, Don M, Sonjia, Ann, Jane and myself. Barbara left us at Halvasso after deciding to turn back, and we continued via Penmarth, Carnmenellis, Troon, Barripper, under the railway at Penponds and over the A30. The traffic seemed to be flowing again after being closed earlier for a police incident (apparently a […] Read More
