Twenty five members attended the meeting and apologies were received from Denise, Danny Daniels, Colin, Adrian Mitchell, Teresa, Paul, Ian and Sylvia. Approval of the minutes of last year’s meeting were proposed by Simon and seconded by Dean.
Fred gave the Chairman’s report, thanking everyone for a very successful year, which included three Pathfinders, the Audax ’22, trips to the Picos, Mallorca and the Cotswolds, Robin’s LEL, Don, Denise and Sonjia’s JOGLE, Richard’s quiz, some interesting talks at our monthly meetings, a meal at Via Ferrata and very well attended Christmas Party at Wood Lane.
Phil Samuel gave the Treasurer’s report; the club’s finances are in good shape, with 57 members last year and so far 42 paid up for 2023. Almost all pay by bank transfer. Last year’s Audax raised £650, so the club was able to make two charity donations of £500 each to Georgia’s Voice and Man Down. We also supported the Cycling Campaign. Copies of the accounts were circulated. Approval was proposed by Steve Lightfoot and seconded by Martyn, and passed unanimously.
There were no challenges for the Committee. Fred, Amanda and Phil remain, and Kath takes over as secretary after Liz steps down following eight years in the job. Approval of the new Committee was proposed by Barbara and seconded by Richard, and passed unanimously.
Simon thanked the Committee for all their hard work, and there were no matters arising, so the AGM closed at 8.05pm.
An Ordinary meeting followed – Liz was presented with a card and vouchers as a leaving present (thank you all very much!) and Fred reminded us of Martyn’s Pathfinder on March 26th, and the Club Audax on April 2nd – Phil C has entry forms, the cost is £7 plus £3 if you’re not a member of Cycling UK. E-bikes are accepted. The list for donations of cakes etc was circulated. The first evening social ride of the year will be on Wednesday March 29th to the Red Lion, meet at HQ at 6pm. At our next meeting on March 30th there’ll be a Website presentation (and how to use it). Fred thanked Amanda for the Pathfinder guide lines, and the rides group will meet again to discuss routes.
A discussion followed on video cameras after footage filmed by Robin showed a van driver passing much to close – an accident narrowly avoided – and similar incidents. The meeting finally closed at 8.40pm.
