Royals and superpowers

OGIL ride report 17th May 2023 A very brief report this week, as I have just realised it’s Tuesday so I had better cobble something together sharpish otherwise I will incur the wrath of our Illustrious Leader when he returns from swanning about on the Danube. As it has been nearly a week since the ride my powers of recall may be a little lacking, although I do have the route on Strava so at least that will be roughly […] Read More

Red River, Blue Sea, and a few hills along the way.

I left it until about an hour before the cut off, and did, for a few moments, consider entering the 200Km, but the forecast suggested it was going to be hot and I was glad that I decided to enter the 100km. It’s a great route and what a day to complete it. It also marked, for me, a full 100km without the assistance of Mr Watt. There was a little problem with the Garmin that I had purchased at […] Read More

Jans Pathfinder

Jan’s Pathfinder 23rd April. This ride was described as being short but hilly this may have been the reason only 10 turned up at St Erth. The weather was to be showers in the morning turning brighter later. We the water proofs went on before we left but it was only light rain. As there was only ten it was simple to break up into 2 groups with suitable gofer’s. Off across the A30 to the lane opposite the station […] Read More

We were in for a big surprise. Sunday ride 9/4/23.

It was a dry sometimes sunny day with a cool southerly breeze and the forecast of rain later. Thats that out of the way, thirteen in the group i was with left HQ heading for Idless woods. The other group were headed for Perranuthnoe. Our route was to be via Mabe church, Longdowns, but Dean had other ideas and carried straight on at Union corner, dissension already – suppose we better follow him he will get lost otherwise we all […] Read More

Old dogs and new tricks

Ride report 5th April 2023 The experiment a couple of weeks ago of creating an AI-generated ride report using ChatGPT provoked a totally underwhelming response, so it has been decided to revert to using the tried and tested NS (Natural Stupidity) platform instead. See if you can spot the difference. Who said you can’t teach old dogs new tricks? Last week saw the breath-taking innovation of a trial of using a new gathering point for the OGILs. Instead of the […] Read More

March Pathfinder

Pathfinders are always a great day out and all credit to those who organise a route. This months was to be a first to trial a new method of trying to keep riders in small groups leaving gaps so cars, coaches etc can pass more easily. I had picked Victor up at what seemed to be very early, mainly caused by the fact that the clocks had gone forward an hour. Hurrah summer is here. We drove to Gnome world; […] Read More

Rides Group meeting – 27th March 6:30pm

There has been some chat recently about Sunday rides.  At Fred’s request I have arranged a second meeting of the Rides Group at the WL Social Club.  Once again all members are welcome. We had a good turnout last month which was very constructive.  Indeed I urge anyone with views on any aspect of our Sunday rides and how they might be improved to come along.  If you can’t make it but know someone who can ask them to attend […] Read More
