Wednesday 20th pub ride to Mithian

There has been a Wednesday night pub run committee meeting in the beer garden of The Kings Head in Chasewater. (Pub in Blackwater was shut) and given the how far away the ride is next week it has been suggested that people who don’t want to ride the whole way to Mithian could meet in the Car park at the start of the the Bissoe Trail next to the Devoran roundabout at 6 and head off from there. Lost boys of Helston – found in Roseland

There have been teething problems with our new website – but it’s finally coming good. Or so I thought. After some nagging Chris has provided us with a message board called – “Guestbook” – and on Saturday morning I left a message suggesting a leisurely Sunday ride to St Mawes – the weather looked fine and, after a bit of a climb from the ferry, the road rolls smoothly along the coast and provides snatches of far reaching views of […] Read More

The No ‘Falmouth’ Wheelers OGIL ride to Poldhu – 6th June

An ideal forecast for cycling and so it turned out. Mike C was waiting when I arrived at the other place and soon Ian and John joined us. Where was everyone? All spread out around Europe- Spain, Iceland, Scotland and many other places! At least there were two Penryn Wheelers and two Mawnan Wheelers. A quick chat about destinations followed and Poldhu was agreed. Off we went, through Gweek and Trelowarren, across Traboe Cross and Goonhilly Downs, through Mullion and […] Read More

The accommodation – self catering villa with pool – is approx £800/£1000 for seven days. Shared […] Read More

Women wanted.

The London Walking and Cycling Commissioner (how much does he/she get?) has said that cyclists in London are too white, male and middle class and more needs to be done to encourage women and ethnic minority groups. A trip out to the Dewspring Tea Room with the OGIL today would have given the answer as to why there are fewer women cyclists. It p****d it down for most of the morning. Women, it has to be said, have more sense. […] Read More

Round Objects, or not to be read before 9pm

Last week I was mildly chastised for reporting, verbatim, Paul’s opinion of Tao Tzu, and, as with certain “fine art” images on facebook, I had to place a couple of *s in sensitive places to escape the blue pencil, though this does rely on those who may be offended not being able to spell very well. This did upset me a little, but on a scale in a week that included 60 unarmed protestors shot dead in Gaza and news […] Read More
