The day promised to be dry and sunny! Well mister SUN did pop out occasionally to let us know he was still alive but the cold easterly wind took the edge off the joy of seeing him. I was late arriving at HQ due to the fact that i thought it would be a good idea to put a bit of air in my tyres. Track pump1 pumped up front tyre but didnt like the rear tyre at all, and decided to let more air out than in! Out came Track pump2 which showed solidarity with pump number1 and quickly deflated my rear tyre. After a quick recital of various expletives that i have added to my dictionary over the years i resorted to my trusty lezyne bike pump. Of course you have to work out which end of the tube fits the valve first ( oh the joy of cycling ) .
Porthleven had been decided and off they went i followed on, four of us seemed to be lagging behind so it seemed a good idea to suggest to the other six to carry on and we would meet them there. This didnt happen because we never saw them again as they had decided to leave us anyway, so all was joy and happiness. We rode the usual route of many hills through Godolfin Cross meeting coming opposite way Penzance wheelers on mass there must have been twenty at least and most of them looked quite young! Like policeman.
It was interesting cycling down the hill from Ashton a route that normally is a pleasent freewheel with occasional breaking! The wind had something to do with this , the cold wind i mentioned earlier. At the Cafe the speedy six had arrived not that far ahead of us i hasten to add . Refreshments were devoured with a relish, so off we went again.
Route home was via Truthall Halt etc.
The speedy six were Silviya,Danny,Phil1,Phil4.Trevor2 and Ben. For those of you who acctually read these random reports i would like to add that BEN was also with us last Wednesday and i ommited to mention his name so an error corrected.
The trailing four were Colin,Richard2,Terresa and your scribe.
Hope the other group had a great ride, i noticed Richard1 was there nice to see him back out again.
Mileage who really cares? Its only a number.
