Cold turkey at Helston

OGIL ride report 24th August 2022 With a rather threatening outlook from the weather forecasters all of the twelve that gathered at ToP were happy with the suggestion of the Helston boating lake for our destination today. Needless to say, Ian had an interesting and unusual non-direct route up his sleeve for us: Releath, Crowan, Praze, Townshend, Godolphin and Sithney. The day had a number of highlights worth mentioning. We were joined at UC by Ginny from New Zealand on […] Read More

Dave wanted go to Kennack Sands

The weather forecast wasn’t as good as it had been, rain at 11, or rain before 11, depending on which report you read, so I was surprised that Fred suggested we go to the Lizard. But there were no other bids, so the Lizard it was going to be. Jenny was back with us after her solo trip to Wales and beyond, sporting a bright new helmet, and Kiwi Dave was there so could interpret for us. The “rain before […] Read More

Where has all the water gone

Eleven OGILS met up at TOP and before the usual discussions ensued I suggested trying out the new Café at Stithians called Lakeside. Now as you all know Sithians is not far so a route was devised. We set off for Gweek and Mike C left us as he had to return to base to do some work, its nice to see him out again with his modified bicyclette. We regrouped at Gweek and headed off for Mawgan then Trelawarren […] Read More

Wait for me….

OGIL ride report 10th August 2022 Even though the early morning OGIL splinter group continued its efforts to avoid the heat of the sun by starting out an hour earlier, the stalwarts still managed to number a healthy seven when we congregated at ToP. We may have been slightly later leaving UC than planned as we were absorbed by the sight of a strange insect on the wall. Dean the Elder’s entomological curiosity led him to photograph the bug in […] Read More

Just follow the van, Sonjia. Denise is fundraising for Breast Cancer UK so if you haven’t yet contributed, […] Read More

Closed roads are no deterrent

OGIL ride report 27th July 2022 The OGIL WhatsApp group was alight with discussion about an early start, initiated by Damien who had to be back at midday for an unspecified reason. He got a surprisingly large response for a ride start of 7.30 with three other OGILs (names withheld to protect the guilty) deserting the normal ride to savour the early morning dew. That left just seven of us to congregate as the Continuity OGILs at ToP, where the […] Read More
